HomeOutfit Ideas By OccasionBirthdaysBecoming a Preppy Girl in High School Achieve your dream of becoming Blair Waldorf, Serena van der Woodsen, Cher Horowitz, Dionne Davenport, even Spencer Hastings from our “How to Become a Preppy Girl in High School” article with tips, tricks and of course, preppy outfit ideas suitable for young women like you. Be classy, never trashy. First off, preppy girls take lots of care for their bodies. If you haven’t noticed, they are all very active in physical activities like tennis, golf, lacrosse, swimming, horse-riding, anything really. Eat lots of healthy food and drink lots of water. You should be very serious about school, but not to the point where you can’t have fun. Try taking AP classes or other elective training classes. You could learn so much from classes like those that aren’t offered in any “easy A” class. Preppy people take education very seriously. They can talk just about everything and anything so it’s important you have stock knowledge on certain things, even when you don’t need to know it. Be well rounded. Focus on high school, getting good grades, participating in different clubs, organizations and sports. Apply to scholarships. Take a foreign language class. Also, please don’t forget the most important aspect of being a preppy girl is to have good manners and class. They are so kind, polite and graceful. They’re never rude or bullies (maybe except Blair Waldorf, but she’s a fictional character). By becoming prep, you need to surround yourself with every positive vibe and person. When it comes to fashion, revealing clothes aren’t their thing. They don’t usually follow the fashion trends because they have their own. GO for good brands that offer preppy and good quality clothes. Don’t shop from mainstream clothing stores because those brands are not at all preppy, even when they have a few preppy things. When you want to become preppy, being mainstream is not the right way to do it. Good brands like Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste and many others have actually quality shirts, blouses, cardigans, etc. Most of the preps have a thing or two from Coach, Chanel, Burberry, Hermes because they are super high quality. If you can’t afford one, don’t buy a cheap knock off of it. If you really want one, save up for it. When it comes to shoes, preps wear ballet flats, boat shoes, loafers, wedges and a few conservative sandals. Show your natural hair color instead of having it dyed. Also, weird hair cuts are seriously not preppy. Keep your hair shiny, clean and polished. You can add cute hair accessories like bows, headbands, Swarovski head pieces and many more. No need to go overboard with accessories, really. You can go for family heirlooms because they’re sort of vintage-y or bracelets with charms are pretty. Hide your imperfections with foundation and of course, use minimal make up. Highlight your features by using a good highlighter. We absolutely love the NARS Sheer Glow and YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat for foundation and NARS illuminator in Copacabana for highlighting, but no need to buy high-end brands. The Naked Basics palette from Urban Decay is a must-have because of its neutral colors. Preppy don’t use colorful eye shadows, if you haven’t noticed. Don’t forget to check out Rimmel London, Sleek and E.L.F. have amazing cosmetics as well. Sometimes, it’s all about making you look best and feel good and not really about the brand of the makeup you’re using.
